"Partners for Innovation" is an event that is organised by the State of California,
the Mission of Norway to the EU, the Stockholm Region and the Mission of
Switzerland to the EU. The event will take place 10 December 2003 in Brussels,
offering a unique opportunity to experience different approaches to innovation
policies and practices.

The four partners as well as representatives from European Institutions will
present showcases of innovation strategies. Moreover, this event is an occasion
for networking on innovation matters and on future collaboration in research and
innovation. The event invites to a dialogue among policymakers, highlighting
multi-disciplinary approaches and differences between the partners.

Another aspect of the conference is to focus on our common challenge: Boosting
innovation from research to market!

In the first part of the event, high level representatives will outline their
perspectives and contributions to stimulate innovation on national, regional,
European and transatlantic levels. The second part, consisting of the Stockholm
Region Nobel lunch, is a tribute to excellence in Research taking place on the
same day, as the Laureates of the Nobel Prize are announced in Stockholm.
The third part consists of four parallel sessions, each with the purpose
to demonstrate the different approaches and to promote innovation. Following
aspects of R&D will be discussed:

- A company approach to innovation
- Regions and Innovation : Regional Actors within the Innovation Process
- Innovation for a Sustainable Hydrogen Economy

Summing up the previous sessions and reviewing future challenges will conclude
the conference. This final session is co-organised with the Commune of St.
Gilles.
